About Dave

Dave McKinney holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in highway and transportation engineering.  He also holds the degree of Juris Doctor cum laude, and has practiced law for over 25 years in Utah and Idaho.

Dave first came to the Treasure Valley in 1991 and worked as a civil engineer for a local engineering firm, earning his Professional Engineers license in 1995.  In this role, Dave helped plan, design and build many highway and bridge projects for ACHD and throughout Idaho.  He understands the ins and outs of transportation planning and is able to see the big picture.

Since completing law school in 1998, Dave has practiced law as a registered patent attorney.  He has worked for several different law firms, and is the founder of Progress Patent Law, PLLC, where he continues to help inventors protect their inventions.

Throughout the years, Dave has remained involved in planning and transportation matters.  He served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the city of West Jordan, Utah for about 6 years, and served on the Meridian Transportation Commission for several years before election to the ACHD Commission.

Dave has the knowledge, vision and expertise to keep guiding ACHD into the future!
